Photograph, from left to right, of Mertie West, Agnes Whitaker and Forrest Whitaker sitting in their boat as they launch from the wharf and into Big Bear Lake. The hull of another boat sits in partial view along the bottom edge in the foreground. Behind it, in the near distance at left, the boat occupied by Mertie West, Agnes Whitaker and Forrest Whitaker enters frame from the left. It appears to sit on a ramp as it angles into the water from the left. Mertie West stands towards the front of the boat at left. She is in profile, facing right. Ahead of her, Agnes Whitaker sits at center. She casts her gaze downwards as she shifts supplies around the boat. At the boat's stern, Forrest Whitaker sits. He faces slightly right and tinkers with the boat's motor. Beyond them, Big Bear Lake stretches across the image and into the distance. Silhouetted mountains rise from the opposite shore. Opaque, wide, white patches occupy the lower left and lower right corners, dissipating as they extend upwards along their respective edges.
