Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of motorboats cruising past the S. S. Catalina during its approach towards Avalon Bay. The image appears to tilt downward to the right. Passengers standing in front of the camera obscure the landscape. They stand in the foreground with their backs to the camera. Beyond them, water stretches across the mid-ground. Two motorboats, just right-of-center, cruise past the ferry. They travel to the left and are followed by their wakes. In the distance, the shoreline of Catalina Island and Avalon are visible. Catalina Casino rises in the background at center and extends beyond the top frame. Text from negative sleeve: 2389.
