Five gold trophies were awarded to the LAPD officers at the national midwinter pistol tournament in Tampa, Florida, where they won eight out of eleven championship matches.

Text from newspaper caption: Champions all, the Los Angeles Police Department pistol team returned yesterday from the national midwinter pistol tournament at Tampa, Fla., and filled the office of Chief of Police Davis with glittering trophies. Clustered about the chief, with the trophies, left to right, are J. J. Engbrecht, Sergt. Joseph O. Dircks, Sergt. M. E. Wheeler, Motor Officer Lee J. Young and Detective Lieutenant Emmett E. Jones.
