Left to right, Colonel Harcourt Hervey, Captain John K. Miller, Oscar A. Trippet, Roy S. Stockton, and Brigadier General Walter P. Story, stand around a small table that holds a trophy. the trophy is a large sphere topped with a winged woman holding something in her hands over her head. The ball is surrounded by eagles with spread wings. Miller and Stockton are resting their hands on the base of the trophy. The three officers are wearing uniforms while the other two men wear suits. Behind them a small window or display case stands open.

The trophy was presented to the National Guard's rifle team for marksmanship by Mayor Frank E. Shaw.

The 160th infantry regiment was part of the 40th Division.
Colonel Harcourt Hervey was the commander of the 160th infantry regiment. Oscar A. Trippet was a lawyer and the president of the Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce. Roy Stockton was Chief of the State Division of Employment Service.
