Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph appears with the article, "Artist Says High Speed Produces Best Paintings," Los Angeles Times, 03 Apr 1936: 8. A somber-faced Dr. Kiss stands before a wall of portrait paintings. The artist whose portraits of prominent Los Angeles men and women are displayed until April 19th claim that none of his paintings took more than three hours - an artist needs only one to three hours to capture the personality of the subject they are painting. Text from newspaper caption: Dr. Rodolph Kiss, artist, pictured alongside two of the portrait sketches included in the exhibit of his work which opened yesterday at Los Angeles Museum. The portrait at left is that of Mrs. Sidney A. Temple, at right that of William May Garland. Text from negative sleeve: 4782 - Dr Rudolphe Kiss Paintings 4/2/36 [stamped:] Apr 14 1936 Handwritten on negative: Dr Rudolphe Kiss 4/2/36
