Virginia Dunning leans against a stair railing next to a large newspaper board prop. Howard Stowitts leans on her, his right arm behind her back, his left hand pointing at her face. Stowitts wears a swimsuit with button straps and sunglasses. Dunning appears to be wearing a military influenced outfit. The Spinsters' Ball, founded in 1926, was held on April 18, 1936 at the Midwick Country Club, with a theme of Newspaper Headlines Ball.
