Captain Edward Hyde of the Broadbill patrols the ocean on behalf of the Fish and Game Commission to keep fishermen from participating in illegal activity. Dozens of birds and sea lions sit on top of a boulder in the middle of the water. Photograph appears with the article, "New Fish Patrol Boat Puts Poachers on Run," Los Angeles Times, 09 Dec 1935: 12. The purse seiners are larger. The occupant of this boat stared in amazement as he was photographed. In the lower photo is shown a giant rock off San Onofre, near San Clemente, which is crowded with sea lions. This is in the center of the lobster fishing area. The patrol will extend from north of Santa Barbara to border.
