Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Harriet Moffitt, Ruth Feldmeth, and Evelyn Bruce are positioned in front of a curtained stage or alcove. Feldmeth is seated while the other two women stand next to her. All three women wear floor length dresses. Moffitt's patterned dress has a ruffled collar and sash. Feldmeth's outfit has a fascinator, and she has a clutch purse in her lap. Bruce wears a plain dress with ruffled sleeves and bow tied behind her back. A different photograph taken at the same occasion appears in "Style at a Price their Aim," Los Angeles Times, 31 Mar 1936: A6. The contest was held at Burdette Hall in the Philharmonic Auditorium, on the evening of March 24, 1936. Harriet Moffitt became Harriet Pollock in 1936. Harriet Moffitt, Ruth Feldmeth, and Evelyn Bruse [Bruce?] were competitors in the first style show of the Girls' Corner Club, where members made their own gowns at a cost not to exceed $1.50.
