Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. An edited form of this photograph appeared in "Style at a Price their Aim," Los Angeles Times, 31 Mar 1936: A6. Jean Getzman was edited out of the photograph in the paper. Left to right, Jonnie Jean Harris, Barbara Allen, Jean Getzman. Harris wears a maxi skirt and matching belted jacket and top. Allen wears a flutter-sleeved gingham belted tea-length dress and lace up oxfords. Getzman wears a long dress of flowy material and a ruffled neckline. They stand next to a curtained alcove or the edge of a stage. The contest was held at Burdette Hall in the Philharmonic Auditorium, on the evening of March 24, 1936. Text accompanying photograph in paper: Misses Jonnie Jean Harris and Barbara Allen of the Girls' Corner Club were winners in the first style show, when members competed for awards by making their own gowns at a cost not to exceed $1.50. Mrs. Francis Neth was chairman of the contest and judges were Princess Der Ling, Peggy Hamilton and Carrie Jacobs Bond. Text from negative sleeve: 5010-[stamp] APR 29 1936. Corner Club.
