Actor James Guilfoyle and an unidentified actress, both in blackface. Guilfoyle was appearing in a revival of Dion Boucicault's The Octoroon. It is likely that this photograph was taken at the Mason Theatre in downtown Los Angeles, as part of the Works Progress Administration (WPA) Federal Theatre Project.
