This photograph appears with the article, “Just Like Old Home Week,” Los Angeles Times, 4 Jul. 1936: 11.
Photograph of Frank Shellenback leaning against the railing at Wrigley Field with bleachers in the background. Not to be confused with Wrigley Field in Chicago, LA’s Wrigley Field was the home park of the Los Angeles Angels from 1925 until 1962 when the Angels moved to Chavez Ravine (the current site of Dodger Stadium). Wrigley Field was demolished in March of 1969.
Text from negative sleeve: 6043—Frank Shellenback. Mgr of San Diego Baseball Team, [Stamped:] JUL 14 1936.
Text from newspaper caption: It’s Frank Shellenback, pitching pilot of the San Diego Padres, who should feel right at home at Wrigley Field today when he hurls one game of the Fourth of July double-header against the Angels. Shelly will be seeking his 295th Coast League victory.
