Lois and Mrs. Gunnerson stand to the right of E.J. Dirking and Agnes stands on his right. Dirking is shirtless and wears a pair of white shorts, a diving helmet completely concealing his head and part of his chest. A long tube stretches over his arm and behind him across the sand.
Text from newspaper caption: Mrs. William Jarvis Earl, Mrs. Jack Gunnerson and Mrs. Agnes Derby receive instructions from E. J. Dirking at Emerald Bay on the exciting art of deep-sea diving. These young matrons are treading the ocean floor at the southern resort to get first-hand information on marine life.
