The former newspaper publisher had served since 1934," Los Angeles Times, 28 Sep 1936: 1. H. B. R. Briggs served as postmaster of Los Angeles from 1934-1936 when he died of pneumonia. His wife, Mary D. Briggs, succeeded him as postmistress. Before postmaster, he was editor of the Los Angeles Record. Postmaster H. B. R.
