Rescuers gather beside the wreckage of a crashed Western Air Express plane atop a mountain near Newhall. A couple of rescuers stand in the foreground. One along the left edge and one along the right edge. The man at left looks to camera and the man at right stands with his back to camera. Between them, debris from the crash lies hidden in the mountainside brush. In the mid-ground, the fuselage of the plane stretches across the image. Its right wing extends from the plane at right. Four rescuers stand on the near side of the fuselage and converse with one another. Snow blankets the wreckage.
