Different photographs taken on the same occasion appear with the article, "Rose Parade Awes 1,250,000," Los Angeles Times, 03 Jan 1939: 1. The City of Los Angeles float theme was "Destiny," celebrating the city's growth. The 1939 Tournament of Roses theme was Golden Jubilee to mark the 50th anniversary of the parade. Shirley Temple served as Grand Marshal. Loretta Yeagle, dressed as a queen, sits at the head of the float. Gordon Olsen is in period costume in a scene depicting the discovery of the land. In the front, next to a replica of the Cabrillo ship, are Dick Vivie and Patricia Tenney dressed as Native Americans. Text from negative sleeve: 15283 Rose Parade 1939
