South Gate's Rose Parade float is seen in the foreground. Its theme was "Memories in Music" and it had a sound feature as well as a floral harp, trumpets, and a recorder. South Pasadena's entry is seen in the background.
The 1939 Tournament of Roses theme was Golden Jubilee to mark the 50th anniversary of the parade. Shirley Temple served as Grand Marshal.
