The United Service Clubs Rose Parade theme float was "Schooldays." It featured a schoolhouse on a hill, with an arbor and a well. Those riding on the float were; Beth MacLeod, 12; Betty Goodman, 12; Phyllis Newcomer, 12; Jeannette Selph, 14; and Jimmy McNary, 7.
The 1939 Tournament of Roses theme was Golden Jubilee to mark the 50th anniversary of the parade. Shirley Temple served as Grand Marshal.
