Gillespie were indicted for conspiracy to commit mail fraud by peddling a million dollars’ worth of bonds to film stars. The case was known as the Buckner Bond Case throughout media. Film stars targeted in the scheme included Loretta Young, Miriam Hopkins, Frank Morgan, Bing Crosby, and Cary Grant. From left to right: Louis F.
