Betty McConnell smiles from a bench, holding a cigarette in hand.
Similar photograph appears with the article, "Dancer Helps Free Mother of Traffic Crash Charge," Los Angeles Times, 29 Dec 1938: A2.
Betty's testimony helped in clearing her 53-year-old mother Mrs. Bessie McConnell of misdemeanor charges that she had caused a traffic accident with Mrs. Ada M. Sandstrom by failing to yield to the right of way. Because Mrs. Sandstrom did not appear in court to testify the jury exonerated Mrs. McConnell.
