Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Possibly related to the dedication of the new church of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Calexico. Reported in "Catholics set for dedication," Los Angeles Times, 26 March 1939: B14. Six visible girls, some dressed as angels, and a man wearing a white shirt and trousers, on a float covered with light colored fabric and decorated with leaves, flowers, and a tall structure with a painting of the Lady of Guadalupe, most likely. A flatbed truck carries the float. On the side and back of the float are two medallions with Greek crosses and the letters ACJM, which probably stand for the Mexican Association of Catholic Youth. Text from negative sleeve: 15833. Our Lady. Guadalupe. Return to News Bureau. Wallace Nepo. [Stamped:] Mar 1 1939.
