At the tomb of Ho Chi Minh, the former leader lies embalmed and under glass. Although his mausoleum is in the modernist, Soviet style, Vietnam boasts a long tradition of creating tomb temples for departed national heroes, some of whom are thought to guide the nation as thánh, or spirit saints.
