Description
A black-and-white historical photograph depicts a man crouched in an open, sunlit field during the day. He is positioned in the center of the frame, facing left in profile. The man is wearing a light-colored, wide-brimmed hat, a dark long-sleeved shirt or jacket, and dark trousers. He is kneeling and leaning forward over a large light-colored stone or other irregular object. His hands are near the ground as if he is lifting the stone. The ground is dry and textured with small rocks and no vegetation visible. In the background, the field fills the rest of the frame, with a regularly repeating grid of white stones on the rocky soil. To the right of the main photograph, a vertical photographic color calibration scale and a metric ruler are visible, used for archival documentation. There is no legible text within the photograph itself.
