Description
Land Case page: 2239 (of 100 ND)
Dome topped.
Toward left is the site of an Indian mound or midden.
A sepia-toned, dome-topped photograph from 1861 depicts a flat, open landscape dominated by an unpaved dirt foreground and a series of hills in the background. On the left side of the horizon, a large, dark, rounded hill rises steeply, while a smaller, lower hill sits to the right with a small white structure, likely a house, visible on its crest. Between the foreground and the hills, a thin wooden fence line runs horizontally across the middle ground, separating different sections of the grassy, sparsely vegetated plain. The sky is a uniform, light pale color with no visible clouds. Mounted below the photograph is a wide strip of aged paper containing multiple lines of handwritten cursive text, including "July 24, 1861," "Rancho San Antonio," "100 ND," and "No. 2239". A small color calibration strip with red, yellow, green, blue, and grayscale squares is placed at the very bottom edge of the mount.
