Description
In 1918 he "went over the top" with the Yanks in the Mouse Argonne, and St. Mihiel battles. As head of the Anti-Axis Committee of Los Angeles, Tokutaro "Tokie" Nishimura Slocum is the spearhead of the anti-subversive drive in the Japanese communities in this region, and is working closely with the FBI, Naval and Army Intelligence. Came to the U.S. in 1904 when 10 years old and was later adopted by the Ap.P. Slocums of Minot, North Dakota. Attained highest non-com rank of all orientals, that of sergeant-major and fought in the same outfit with Sergeant York of Tennessee. Did main work in getting Congress to pass citizenship law for world war vets otherwise unqualified, in 1935. Father of two children; the eldest Teddy, age 5, in background.
