Description
Number on back of album page: 27381. This material was selectively digitized from a larger resource or collection. Two automobiles on a road through a redwood forest. This black-and-white landscape photograph captures two early 20th-century automobiles driving along a narrow dirt road through a dense redwood forest. The cars, positioned in the center and lower-right of the frame, appear small next to the massive, straight redwood trunks that rise vertically and extend beyond the top of the image. The road curves slightly through the trees, which feature thick, vertically-fissured bark. Sunlight filters through the high canopy, creating high-contrast patches of bright light and deep shadows across the forest floor and the textured surfaces of the trees. To the left of the photograph, a vertical color and grayscale calibration target is included within the archival scan. Image description generated by AI (Gemini 3.0 Fast) and reviewed, January 2026 .
