Description
Scope/Content: An oral history with Roger Eap, who was born in 1986 in Long Beach, California. He is the manager and co-owner of the shop Seaside Donuts Bakery. He graduated from UCI with a bachelor’s degree in Criminology. His father, the previous owner of Seaside Donuts, is from Cambodia, while his mother is from Thailand. He and his sisters grew up along with the business, which was obtained in the late 70s. During the interview, Mr. Eap touches upon his parents’ history and describes the origins of Seaside Bakery. His father was not sponsored by Ted Ngoy, the donut king from Cambodia, but by a family in Michigan. He talks quite a bit about the business, from its menu items to the reason behind its 24/7 business hours. He mentions his thoughts on the culture around Seaside, from the wide array of people the shop caters to to its thriving late night culture.
