Description
Scope/Content: An oral history with Mr. Thanh The Nguyen, born in 1932 in Hanoi, Vietnam. Mr. Nguyen was a ARVN officer in South Vietnam and served his country from 1950-1975. After the collapse of South Vietnam, he was sent to a reeducation camp and was released after 10 years. Mr. Nguyen was happy to speak about his time before the war as well as the events in his life after the war and coming to California. He immigrated to California through the Orderly Departure Program - Humanitarian Operation. Previously he worked as a security guard but has been retired for the past 10 years. Mr. Nguyen is a past member of the Armory Regiment who get together annually to honor their fallen brothers-in-arms during the Vietnam War. He currently lives with one out of his 9 children. Material restricted until 2025-05-14.
