Description
Scope/Content: An oral history with Mr. Tung Dinh who was born in Saigon, Vietnam on November 28, 1961. He was the youngest of three children and spent most of his days in Vietnam either rigorously studying in high school or making numerous attempts to escape from his homeland. After finishing his high school education, he was captured twice for attempting to escape Vietnam and was sentenced to jail for 18 months at a time—serving a total of 3 years of jail time. Upon escaping the jail his last time, he made his way through Cambodia and into Thailand where he, his oldest sister, and his father were sponsored to the United States by his aunt who resided in Cerritos. Since then, he has worked several electrical and mechanical inspection jobs and is very involved at his Buddhist Temple. He is a mechanical/electronics inspector and resides in Westminster, California with his wife and four kids.
