Description
Scope/Content: An oral history with Ms. Sally Tran, born on July 24, 1977 in Saigon, Vietnam. Following the end of the Vietnam War, she and her family escaped by boat to Indonesia while she was only 4 years old. She discusses her memories of Indonesia and how her family was sponsored by a church to go to America in 1984. After immigrating to the United States, she spent years in school, eventually leading her to beauty school to become a hair dresser. She is currently working as a hair dresser in Chino Hills and frequently goes back to Vietnam to do her charity work for an organization she started called US2Vietnam. At the age of 37, Ms. Sally Tran is living with her partner of 12 years and her 3 dogs at their home in Eastvale, California.
Scope/Content: This recording is from the Vietnamese American Experience Class Oral Histories, 2015 Spring subcollection.
