[Written on photograph] McGrath. 1939 Beet Seed Treatment Plots. Note light area in center of picture. Entire field first planted with un-treated seed. Unsatisfactory stand obtained in most of field. Half was then cut out and replanted with treated seed. Between stand permitted to remain and treated section, 16 rows of untreated seed, were used as check. Note poor stand in original planting to left of plot and in replanted untreated section. Also note uniform stand in replented area (with treated seed). [Negative digitized]
