Transcription: [Written on envelope] Rincon fine sandy loam, coarse phase. Forty per cent slope. Farmer contoured hillside fall of 1937, right of "x's", no contour ditches left of "x's". Contour ditches 40 feet apart. Subsoiled on contour. Reduced run-off, but enough for severe erosion. Soil Conservation Service representatives told farmer would not be successful. [Negative digitized]
