Description
Medium: ink and colors on silk
Annotations/Markings: Dated "戊牛之維莫之春" and signed "須静堂" (by Nukina, Kaioku) followed by two seals. One additional seal at upper right corner preceding four-line inscription of a poem by T'ao Yuan-ming, reads "Within my humble door / there is a qin and books; / I play and sing in verse, / and so take my pleasure. / Although I have other interests, / I find the greatest joy from living in retirement. / In the morning I water the garden, / And in the evening I sleep in my thatched cottage." (trans. Stephen Addiss) Signed "竹洞山人寫" (by Nakabayashi, Chikutō) followed by two seals "成昌之印" and "竹洞自作" at lower left corner.
