Description
Scope/Content: Abstract: The purpose of this memorandum is to present the results of our hydrologic and engineering analyses to evaluate selected design components of the Haypress Pond riparian and channel restoration project. The main goal of this project is to remove the existing Haypress Pond dam in order to eliminate year-round ponding that is sustaining a significant bullfrog population. In addition, dam decommissioning and grading will be completed in a fashion to restore the natural riparian and meadow habitat within the Haypress drainage. Analyses we completed to assist in the restoration design process included: - Characterizing existing topographic conditions at the project site; - Design of a channel thalweg longitudinal profile through the proposed restoration project reach; - Preparation of a conceptual grading plan for the restoration project; and - Hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to evaluate the performance of the creek channel and flood plain below the existing dam during an annual flood event. The results of these analyses are presented and discussed.
