- Description
- Scope/Content: Diary of George Fujimoto, Jr., a young Japanese American man from Riverside, California. Daily entries begin in January 1944, on page 21, and describe Fujimoto's time living and working in Des Moines, Iowa under the War Relocation Authority resettlement program. In February, Fujimoto was drafted into the United States Army. He completed basic training at Camp Blanding, Florida from April to August 1944, and in September began Japanese language study at the Military Intelligence Service Language School at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. During the year, Fujimoto also made two visits to his family incarcerated at Poston, Arizona.
