My dear Pickersgill You know the exigent nature of the fresco art, and when I tell you that I am engaged at The Houses from “morn ‘till dreary Eve” from 8 AM till the same PM. I trust I give a forcible reason why I shall not be able to dine with you, as you so kindly proposed. I fear you have nothing to regret, in my absence for I am so wearied out each evening that I have no spirit left to add to the cheerfulness which can pervade your table.
