Description
Scope/Content: Fliers and memo for UCR campus discussion events with keynote speaker Lou Smith. Smith, an African American activist, was the director of the Watts-based civil rights organization Operation Bootstrap. The fliers use examples of racist questions and slurs to spark discussion (pages 5-12). A memo from T. P. Jenkin, Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, notes that the program "has resulted primarily from the organizing efforts of the Student Committee on Undergraduate Education and the Black Student Union."
