Description
Scope/Content: Abstract: FERC issued docket number p-2602, p-2686, p-2698: On January 26, 2004, Duke Power filed applications using the traditional licensing process for new major licenses for the East Fork and West Fork Hydroelectric Projects (FERC Nos. 2698-033 and 2686-032, respectively). On June 1, 2004, Duke Power filed an application to surrender its license for the Dillsboro Hydroelectric Project (FERC No. 2602-007) for which it had previously (July 2003) filed an application for a new major license. These three projects, which are all on the Tuckasegee River in Jackson County (Figures 1-3), North Carolina, will be processed together in a single Environmental Assessment (EA), along with the previously scoped Bryson Hydroelectric Project (FERC No. 2601-007) which is on the Oconaluftee River (a tributary to the Tuckasegee), North Carolina. There are 23.15 acres of United States Forest Service (USFS) land (Nantahala National Forest) within the East Fork Project boundary and no federal lands within the West Fork, Bryson or Dillsboro Projects.
