Description: Scope/Content: Abstract: The effectiveness of water quality monitoring and mitigation plans at hydropower projects was assessed to determine whether the license requirements of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC or Commission)are achieving the desired result of resource protection. Water quality is the first of several mitigation areas (others include fish passage and recreation) that will be evaluated in the next few years. This activity is part of a FERC strategic plan that describes the goals and the corresponding measures of performance for meeting the intent of the Government Performance and Results Act of 1993. The assessment is based on information, such as letters, monitoring plans and annual reports, and orders, contained in the Commission's public Records of Information Management System (RIMS) database of all FERC projects that were licensed since 1986.
