Dear Sir, As I was not allowed either to draw or write in painted chamber, I am not able to give a very good account of the paintings. The subjects are very numerous, very difficult to be understood and mostly very imperfect. With the aid of the notices you have sent I will be happy to do my best. I should however mention that it was imprinted by Mr. Crocker that I would not publish and I afford him that my memoir and was far too hasty for that purpose, intended for him its gratification. – I am dear sir Yours by truly. J. C Buckler
