"Häuptling Salema von Moshi mit anderen vor einer seiner Frauenhütten, Bier trinkend. Ein afrikanisches Biergelage" ("Chief Salema of Moshi with others in front of one of his women huts, drinking beer. An African beer-drinking bout"). Three standing and ten squatting Africans are assembled in front of a grass hut. More people seem to be there but are not fully pictured. The men and women stand, sit and squat around a beer trough. Nobody is actually drinking or holding a vessel though. The picture was probably taken by Johannes Schanz (1876-1963). He worked as a missionary of the Leipzig Mission in Moshi and Mamba from 1901 to 1910.
