Photograph was edited for publication purposes. Photograph is damaged. Photograph caption dated November 7, 1961 reads "Paul Waldvogel, great Monroe High School Viking guard, goes through the above routines as he prepares for his grid chores for the undefeated East Valley League leaders. At left, Waldvogel is seen receiving complete uniform from his coach Howard Taft; then comes time to slip on shoulder pads, tie shoe laces and at far right, the 'dressed up' Viking. Waldvogel is one of the many reasons why Monroe has the only undefeated high school football team in the San Fernando Valley. The Vikings can clinch the league crown by beating San Fernando High School in the big game Friday night, which is expected to draw a record crowd."
