Photograph caption dated August 17, 1936 reads, "Alfred Liner, a blacksmith, is shown in jail here today after radio police saved him from a crowd that threatened to hang him from a light standard. Members of the crowd said Liner had tried to mistreat two little girls. Liner denies this accusation and says he was robbed of $55 and beaten."
