Hyperion Treatment Plant, located at 12000 Vista del Mar, Playa del Rey, has operated since the 1800's. In 1950 Los Angeles built a secondary treatment plant consisting of full secondary treatment system and biosolids processing to produce heat-dried fertilizer. Among first facilities to capture energy from biogas by operating anaerobic digesters.
