Description
Photograph of a United States railroad gun in World War I, ca.1918. The railroad runs from the background at left to the foreground at right, and a set of empty tracks runs parallel in the foreground at left. The gun is a massive fourteen-inch naval gun mounted onto a large railroad car. The barrel reaches out over the car in front of the gun's car. The car at extreme right has a cargo of thick wooden beams, and the car to the left of that one bears a large canvas-covered box. Several words are visible and include, from left to right, "U.S.A.", "Wilson", and "USA 81".
