Photograph caption dated September 17, 1956 reads, "Although many new Valley churches are using California style, First Methodist Church of San Fernando retained traditional look using California materials. Stone facing is native rock from nearby hills. Steeple is sheathed in copper for easy maintenance. Outdoor look was brought indoors by using planter along interior walls. Church was designed by Arthur Frick of Frick and Frick, architects of Pasadena."
