Caption slip reads: "Photographer: Rustan. Date: 1960-08-10. Assignment: NYC Bridge Champs. 35-36/5, L to R: Lew Mathe greets NY Players: (front row): Mrs. Helen Sobel Waldemar Von Zedtwitz (non-playing captain) (center row): John Crawford (back row): Edgar Kaplan and Alfred Sheinwold." Supplementary material reads: "Wed. Aug. 10. Note to City Desk" We should have fotog. [sic]' at International Airport to get pix of New York bridge team when it arrives today via United Airlines. ETA is 2:25 p.m. Flight is No. 811 from NYC. Scheduled arrival time was 2:50 but United told me at 12:45 p.m. that plane was 25 minutes ahead of schedule. Our bridge expert, Lew Mathe, is supposed to be at airport to greet New York players, but I have been unable to contact him to let him know plane will be in 25 minutes ahead of schedule. So maybe the fotog. [sic] can stall things until Mathe gets there. The picture we should have is Mathe greeting the New York players. Mathe, of course, is our boy and in addition is a member of the Los Angeles bridge team that will meet the New York team in a special challenge match Thursday and Friday."
