Description
V1p378c In PHOTO ALBUM-VAULT: ** fc917.9461 A3, Vol. I, page 378 bottom. This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco." Text written on photo: "After the fire S.N. Wood Fillmore St." Written to left: "S.N. Woods [sic] & company Store on Fillmore Street 1908." This store, located on the ground floor of the wooden three-story Italianate Hotel Congress at the northeast corner of Fillmore and Ellis, is decorated with inspirational messages relating to the fire. Men and women are gathered to view the goods on display in the windows. Set into the cobblestones of Fillmore Street are the rails of United Railroads' 16th and Fillmore line.
