The reel opens with a family record kept by William Richardson through approximately 1884. It traces his ancestors primarily in Scotland, and includes birth and death dates as well as information on marriages and children.The reel also contains a brief autobiography kept by Mary Muir Hughes Bunnell (a sister-in-law of William Richardson), including descriptions of Mary's childhood in Scotland, her conversion to Mormonism, her move to Utah, and her marriage to Ross Burton Hughes. The reel also contains a diary kept by an unidentified man in about 1894 (although portions are dated 1884-1885 and 1890, and some pages may be out of order on the reel). It primarily chronicles daily activities in Utah such as agricultural work, attendance of religious meetings, and Church and community affairs. William Richardson was born in Lanark, Scotland, on June 18, 1829. He worked in the mines from the age of ten, and after his mother's death moved often, living with his grandmother, father and stepmother, and aunt. In 1849 Richardson was baptized into the Mormon Church by Andrew Farguson (Ferguson). In 1851 he married Ann Walker (also called Joan Fatheringham) in Glasgow, and in 1856 the family left Scotland for the United States, settling in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Richardson worked at various mining and bridge building jobs, and in 1859 traveled to Illinois. In 1863 the family moved to Salt Lake City, where Richardson operated a saw mill. He died in Vernal, Utah, on August 24, 1904.;Mary Muir Hughes Bunnell (1853-1943) was born in Kilmarnock, Scotland. Her parents had converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the family moved to Utah in 1856. They lived in Provo before moving to Heber in 1861. Mary married Ross Burton Hughes (1847-1873) in 1871 and Daniel Kimball Bunnell in 1874. She died in Pleasant Grove, Utah, in 1943.
