Description: Then came the second down and this time Quarterback Mathews called the signal for Leo Cantor to make a line smash. "Leo the Lion" whammed up to the two-yard line, where Hoffman made a flying tackle to prevent what might have been a touchdown. Hoffman came out of nowhere to stop Cantor just when it appeared a score was inevitable. It was a vital spot. Photo dated: December 11, 1939.
