Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated February 10, 1964 partially reads, "Two runaway teen-age sisters and the 17-year-old boy friend of one probably died from the fumes of an unvented gas heater in the Sylmar Motel where they were found Saturday, police reported today. The three victims were Sharon Ann Smith, 16, and her sister Barbara, 14, of 14807 Polk St., Sylmar, and Robert Eugene Burket, 17, of 14682 Hubbard St., also Sylmar. A coroner's autopsy revealed they died of acute carbon monoxide poisoning. Police said the three had been dead for several days when their bodies were discovered in a motel cottage at 13180 Foothill Blvd., by motel owner Richard F. Vannell." Photograph caption reads, "Where three juveniles died - Motel manager discovered bodies."
